Shoplifting
In Nebraska, shoplifting is considered a class 2 misdemeanor unless the dollar value of the item stolen is more than $200 or it is the second offense. Then it becomes a class 1 misdemeanor. In the case of the item being from $500-$1500 or a third offense, it becomes a class 4 felony. Most stores will prosecute the shoplifter as a matter of store policy. This information is general and should not be used for legal purposes. Always consult an attorney before pursuing any legal matter.
