Awards emphasize the importance of local retailers to Nebraska communities.

Nominations Due by May 15, 2017

Lincoln, NE   April 24, 2017:  The Nebraska Retail Federation will name three 2017 Nebraska Retail Champions – one from each of Nebraska’s three congressional districts.

All three will receive an expense paid trip to the 2017 America’s Retail Champion competition in Washington D.C, July 17-19, 2017 sponsored by the National Retail Federation. The purpose of these awards is to emphasize the contributions local retailers make to the community (unlike out of state, online sellers).

The public is invited to nominate local retailers who are succeeding in spite of competition from out of state, online sellers.  Some suggested retail areas are:  Appliances, arts and crafts, antiques, agricultural retail, books, clothing, collectibles, electronics, fireplaces, floral, flooring, furniture, gifts, hardware, home decor, home improvement, hot tubs, jewelry, lawn and garden, office supply, pet care, pharmacy,  and others.

While gas stations, restaurants, and grocery stores are retailers, they are not as directly impacted by online competition and the criteria for the award is less advantageous for them.

The public is encouraged to nominate local Retail Champions – retailers who embody the fighting spirit of American small business.

Nominations should be submitted as soon as possible but no later than May 15th, 2017.  The nomination form below needs to be submitted to Rich Otto at: rich@nebraskaretail.com
